GADCC-Caraga: RH Bill Forum in Butuan City

Pintor stresses the importance of providing the right information to the public on the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill by presenting both the pros and cons to avoid confusion from the general public, held recently during the RH Bill Forum in one of the local convention centers in Butuan City. Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chairperson Lorett Ann Rosales cites the significance of the conduct of the forum on Responsible Parenthood, Reproductive Health (RH) and Population Development Bill for the public to have better understanding on the issue. She also expresses her appreciation to the Gender and Development Coordinating Committee (GADCC) chairperson and CHR-Caraga Regional Director Atty. Marilyn M. Dr. Telly Somera, Family and Life Apostolate, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) signifies that she with the CBCP do not agree with the provision that reclassifies contraceptives as essential medicines and appropriating limited government funds to reproductive services instead of basic services. She also revealed that the Catholic Church has opposed the RH bill because of its provisions allowing artificial contraception and the Church favors only natural family planning, held recently during the RH Bill Forum in one of the local convention centers in Butuan City.
