DENR Caraga Regional Technical Director for Forest Management Services Ali M. Bari (right) confers with the different field environment officials about the accomplishment of the Upland Development Program (UDP) under the Comprehensive Livelihood Employment Emergency Program (CLEEP) of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in their area of responsibility during a meeting on Monday (January 25) at the DENR Regional Conference Center. The meeting was called to assist a team from the DENR Central Office headed by Lita Raceles in the conduct of the assessment and evaluation of the UDP in the five provinces of Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands from January 25 to February 10, 2010. There are 3,566 beneficiaries all over the region who have entered into a contract with the DENR under the program wherein they will plant and develop the land through agro-foresty, reforestation, mangrove rehabilitation and assisted natural regeneration so that they can earn an extra income. The DENR Regional Executive Director Edilberto S. Buiser represented by Ali M. Bari (sitting), Regional Technical Director of the Forest Management Services, leads 25 other stakeholders from various national and local government offices and the non-government sector in the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) creating “Bantay Kabuhatan – Alpha”. The MOA also affirms their commitment to oversee the protection of the areas covered by the expired tenurial instruments of PICOP Resources Inc. (PRI) covering 179,582-hectares of forest land. The signing of MOA which was facilitated by the Caraga Conference for Peace and Development (CCPD) was held at the official residence of Butuan Diocese Bishop Juan de Dios Pueblos on Friday , January 15, 2010.
