Save Taguibo Watershed: Green Summit held in Butuan City

While the representatives from the government agencies and partner stakeholders group themselves and discuss how to better improve and save the Taguibo Watershed, issues and concerns were also raised such as the overlapping of tenurial instruments wherein in 1997 the Taguibo Watershed was proclaimed as Forest Reserve area but then in 1998, DENR also grants Certificate of Ancestral Domain Claim (CADC) to Indigenous Peoples (IPs), as well as in 2009, NCIP grants CADT to IPs. National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Caraga Regional Director Carmencita Cochingco emphasizes that there is a need to nurture and save the Taguibo Watershed - the Butuanons source of water supply. She also stresses that the government can't save the watershed alone due to lack of resources but with the collaborative efforts from the partner stakeholders and the general public, this is very possible, during the Save Taguibo Watershed: Green Summit held recently at the Mini-theater FSUU Archbishop Morelos Campus, Libertad, Butuan City (PIA-Caraga)
