Gender and Development Coordinating Committee (GADCC)
chair and Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Caraga regional director Atty.
Marylin Pintor recalls that the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is
an international campaign originating from the first Women's Global Leadership
Institute sponsored by the Center for Women's Global Leadership (CWGL) at
Rutgers University in 1991. Participants chose the dates, November 25,
International Day Against Violence Against Women, and December 10,
International Human Rights Day, in order to symbolically link violence against
women and human rights and to emphasize that such violence is a human rights
violation. (Robespierre C. Tradio, PIA-Caraga)
In celebration of this year’s 18-Day Campaign to
End Violence Against Women (VAW), the member-agencies of the Gender and
Development Coordinating Committee (GADCC) under the Caraga Regional
Development Council (RDC) discuss and set various activities for the said
campaign from November 25 to December 12, 2014. (Robespierre C. Tradio,
PIA-Caraga)
