RDC-GADCC Caraga: Forum on Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons held recently in Butuan City

Coalition Against Trafficking in Women-Asia Pacific (CATWAP) Executive Director Jean Enriquez bares that the most common profile of the trafficked victims are as follows: come from poor, big families with dependents; women or children; victims of incest, domestic violence; 13-30 years of age; attained elementary or high school education; from the rural areas; and belong to 2nd generation prostitution, during the Forum on Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons held recently at the Luciana Convention Center, Butuan City. Regional Development Council – Gender and Development Coordinating Committee (RDC-GADCC) chairperson and Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Caraga Regional Director Atty. Marylin Pintor cites that the 2008 National Demographic and Health Survey conducted among women aged 15-49, revealed that one in five women has experienced physical violence since age 15; and one in ten experience sexual violence, during the Forum on Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons held recently at the Luciana Convention Center, Butuan City.
